Mental & Emotional Care
Mental health affects how you think, feel, and act determining how you handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Over the course of your life, as you experience new challenges and face new obstacles it is important to take care of your mental health just as you do your physical health. Our clinician is experienced in the treatment of adults, couples, and families. He specializes in: addiction issues, grief & loss, anxiety, mood disorders, life changes, and relationship issues.
Proactive Care
At NPT HealthWorks we strongly believe that you do not need to wait until you are in crisis to receive mental healthcare. Just as many of our clients come to us for proactive physical therapy and personal training to prevent injuries, we recommend to all our clients that you take the same proactive approach with your mental health.
Services Offered
Individualized Therapy
Individual therapy refers to a range of treatments that help with mental health concerns and emotional challenges. It aims to enable you to understand your feelings, and what makes you feel positive, anxious, or depressed. Therapy can help you cope with difficult situations in a more adaptive way. Our clinician will complete a mental health assessment for the individual client and situation. He will then use one or more of the specific type(s) of therapy outlined below to address any mental health concerns. He will work with you on existing issues, while simultaneously working with you to build your overall mental & emotional health to help you stay strong through life’s challenges. It is a two-way process founded on trust between the client and the clinician.
Case Management/Resource Referral
Case Management is a method of providing services where our clinician assesses the needs of the client (and the client’s family / collatorals when appropriate) and arranges, coordinates, monitors, evaluates, and advocates for any services required to meet the specific client’s needs. Case management requires our clinician to develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with the client, which may include linking the client with systems that provide him or her with needed services, resources, and opportunities. It is designed to obtain the best and most appropriate treatment for clients, encouraging the most effective use of health care, social services, and/or community resources.
Clinical Supervision
We offer clinical supervision hours for individuals working towards becoming licensed as independent level social workers. Supervision is an essential and integral part of the training and continuing education required for the skillful development of professional social workers. It protects clients, supports practitioners, and ensures that professional standards and quality services are delivered by competent social workers. It is a nurturing and engaging practice that helps the provider learn more about themselves while also learning how to navigate the social work profession.
Types of Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a psychotherapeutic treatment used to help patients understand the thoughts and feelings play a fundamental role in our behaviors. The goal is to teach clients that while it is impossible to control every aspect of the world within which they exist, they can take control of how they interpret their environment. It is generally used to help clients focus and deal with specific problem(s). During a course of treatment, clients will learn how to identify and alter destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have negatively influenced behavior and emotions.
CBT is commonly used to treat a wide range of disorders, including addictions, depression, and anxiety.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing facilitates change by focusing on motivational processes within a client. It explores and resolves ambivalence and supports change in a manner congruent with a client’s personal values. The approach has two parts, first, to increase your motivation and second, encourage commitment to change. Our clinician’s role is more about listening than intervening. The goal is to help clients become motivated to change behaviors that are preventing them from making healthier choices. It is often used on clients who start unmotivated, or unprepared for change, to prepare them for further, more specific types of therapies.
Psychodynamic Therapy
In psychodynamic therapy, the goal is to help our client become self-aware and understand the influence of the past on present behavior. The approach helps the client examine unresolved conflicts and symptoms caused by past dysfunctional relationships and/or situations.
Self Care
Self care is a focus for all our clients no matter what services or treatment you are seeking or engaging in.
