Professional background leading to career in health and wellness:
My path to health and wellness is a wind-y one. I went to NYU for my undergraduate degree where I received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre. Survival jobs brought me to the boutique fitness company SoulCycle which began my interest in health and wellness. When I realized that I wanted to change my career path I yearned for a career that worked with people and included an evidence-based approach to help empower them. I found Physical Therapy. I returned to undergrad classes to fulfill my prerequisites at Uconn and spent my graduate years at URI. While at URI I completed research regarding the mechanisms behind Dry Needling, facilitated a group balance class for individuals with Parkinsons, and completed three extremely different clinicals in outpatient, the VA in Providence, and an Inpatient Acute Rehab in North Providence. After school I took a position as a Staff PT and quickly joined an Orthopedic Residency, allowing me to narrow my focus and spend a year focused on Orthopedic conditions culminating in a further board examination in order to receive my Orthopedic Clinical Specialty or OCS.
What reasons you are passionate about helping others:
My overall hope is to empower folks to help themselves. I want to be a sounding board, a person to guide and educate. By and large I believe that with consistent trust, communication, and effort we can solve almost anything out there together. I love watching “Aha” moments and appreciate that I am afforded the time to be able to help folks reach those moments.
